Gomel State University to Cooperate with Universities of Sudan

(BelTA) Gomel Francysk Skaryna State University will cooperate with universities of Sudan, BelTA learned from vice-rector for academic affairs Igor Semchenko. The main cooperation prospects were discussed during a visit of the delegation of the Gomel State University to Sudan. The talks were held in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Sudan with the participation of the minister, deputy minister and more than 20 university rectors, and also in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests. The parties discussed possible cooperation between the universities of Belarus and the institutions of Sudan, subordinate to the two ministries. The Belarusian delegation also visited the University of Khartoum and Sudan University of Science and Technology. The parties discussed cooperation in academic and scientific spheres, education of Sudanese citizens in the Gomel State University, joint scientific research, joint publications. The parties signed a memorandum of understanding to establish cooperation with six universities in Sudan: University of Science and Technology, the Alzaiem Alazhari University, the University of Gezira, Blue Nile University, and the University of Western Kordofan. “A preliminary agreement was reached with these higher educational institutions on the exchange of students and academic staff, joint research and mutual consultations, participation in seminars and academic meetings, implementation of special short-term educational programs and projects, double degree programs,” said Igor Semchenko.
