Al Bashir Arrives in Addis Ababa to Participate in AU Summit

Khartoum - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir and the accompanying delegation arrived in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa yesterday to participate in

the 30th Summit Conference of the African Union (AU), which opens its two-day session today (Sunday).
President Al Bashir was received upon arrival at Addis Ababa Airport by officials of the AU and the Ethiopian government, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, Sudan Ambassador to Ethiopia Jamal Al Shiekh and members of the embassy.
President Al Bashir was seen off at Khartoum Airport by First Vice President and National Prime Minister Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh, ministers and senior government officials.
President Al Bashir is expected to hold a number of meetings on the sidelines of the African Union Summit with heads of state and government and heads of regional and international organizations to discuss bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
The President would also participate in the summit meetings that are to be convened on the fringes of the AU summit.
The 30th Summit Conference of the African Union, which is held under the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation,” would discuss a number of issues including combating corruption, realization of peace, security and development in the continent, migration, terrorism, conflicts, AU reform, reactivation of the regional free trade zone, UN reform and other issues of concern to the African continent.
