Joda, White Nile -- Social security and stability projects being carried out by Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission

(DDRC) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) supported by the government of Japan and Spain in the White Nile state have yielded positive and expected results.
Accompanying a delegation comprising government officials, donors and different UN agencies to the projects areas, Sudan Vision got acquainted with the successful implementation of the projects in the border regions of Daba, Alaqiya and Joda in the locality of Jebelain. The projects have notably contributed to consolidating peaceful coexistence among local communities and refugees who fled war in South Sudan. More, the project contributed to providing job opportunities for the locals; besides training in different fields of agriculture.
The delegation to the projects regions, made up of the Minister for International Cooperation, the British Ambassador to Sudan, the US Deputy Charge d’ Affaires, representatives of different UN agencies and other government officials, aimed at getting acquainted with the successful implementation of these social security and stability projects.
The British Ambassador Michael Aaron  stressed the importance of bringing peace to troubled South Sudan so help South Sudanese refugees in Sudan return their homes of origin.  The ambassador said the British Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan will visit the region to persuade South Sudanese rivals to bury hatchet to end the suffering, adding that the UK encourages the efforts being exerted by the government of Sudan to peace in neighboring South Sudan in addition to endeavors by IGAD to pacify South Sudan.
H.E Aaron commended the peaceful coexistence and sharing of services among the local inhabitants and the refugees from troubled South Sudan.
The Minister for International Cooperation, for his part, expressed his appreciation to the DDRC for tremendous efforts it has been making in favor of stabilizing local communities and improving their living conditions.
The minister demanded the international continue its support for Sudan, especially prophets aimed at improving livelihood and basic services.
The UNDP Regional Officer hailed the local communities hospitality and sharing services with refugees from South Sudan, adding that the program is seeking further cooperation with partners. He stressed the importance for the government and local communities to play a vital role to ensure the sustainability of the projects. 
The DDRC Commissioner Gen. Salah Al-Tayeb pointed to the importance for the international community to learn from these successful projects and transfer the experiment to all border regions.
The Head of Reconciliation Committee with States Council Brigadier General Mohamed Bashir Musa noted that the council is appreciative of efforts by the DDRC and its projects aimed at stability and social security. He called upon the local communities to actively engage carrying out and making the projects successful.
The White Nile State Minister for Agriculture Yassin Omar Hamza affirmed his support for the projects, pointing to the importance of such programs for boosting production and productivity in the spheres of agriculture in addition to enhancing peaceful coexistence.
The Director for planning with the DDFRC Zain-al-Abdeen said the commission’s projects aim at peace building, peaceful coexistence and security and stability in White Nile; in addition to providing job opportunities and improving people’s livelihood and empowering women and youth. 
The Spanish Ambassador to Sudan thanked the local communities in White Nile for honoring him for the contributions of Spanish government to the development and stability projects therein.
He noted that he is proud for his country to be part of such successful projects, promising to convey his observation to his government in Madrid.
Eventually, the Commissioner for Jebelian Locality Idriss Al-Mubarak commended support provided by organizations and aid agencies to agriculture, education and health in the locality, especially services to refugees and displaced persons. He hoped that the agencies would maintain their support to refugees from South Sudan and the host communities in the state.
