Khartoum - The Ministry of Health has disclosed the efforts of Sudan towards treating Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
through efforts conducted by health teams across Sudan.
State Minister at the Ministry of Health Sumaya Ukud said there are 297 test centers for free voluntary testing of AIDS in Sudan which is considered the minimum level worldwide, noting that the number of centers for testing the sexually transmitted diseases have totaled 410 centers along with 37 centers for pregnant women to prevent transmitting the AIDS virus to the fetus.
She noted, in the press conference held by SUNA on the occasion of the international day of AIDS, that the Ministry of Health is working towards providing free treatment for AIDS infected citizens all over Sudan, stressing that in the surveys of last year health services have faced many problems, and these problems are not the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
The State Minister affirmed that opportunities of treating this disease are available and huge, noting that means of preventing this disease are ensured and those working in treatment of this disease were immunized at a percentage of 100% and they are not exposed to infection.
On His part The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Guidance and Endowment said that it is a religious obligation of the Ministry before being a health role, highlighting the efforts undertaken by the Ministry in enlightening the youths from the danger of contracting AIDS in all forums
