Arkaweet Conference of University of Khartoum to Discuss Economic Crisis Facing the Country

Khartoum- The University of Khartoum (UofK) has announced completion of all preparations for holding the 14th  Arkaweet Conference to discuss the economic crisis in the country, scheduled for next Saturday, November 17.
This was announced by the chairman of the steering committee of the conference, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Onor, in a press statement yesterday, following a meeting with the branch committees of the conference to discuss final arrangements for convening the scientific forum, which is held at the initiative of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Ahmed Mohamed Suliman.
The chairman of the steering committee of the conference pointed out that National Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Mutaz Musa would address the opening session of the conference at Prof. Dafallah Al Turabi Conference Hall at the Faculty of Engineering.
He affirmed that the scientific committee of the conference has selected 12 research papers that cover all axes of the conference, which are to be presented before the conference with a wide participation by the university community, researchers, experts and officials of the economic affairs in the country.
He explained that the scientific papers presented 38 recommendations that would be discussed by the conference, covering the axes of institutional reform, poverty, unemployment, investment, financial and monetary policies and production in a view to resolving problems facing the national economy.
He expected that the conference would come out with fruitful recommendations that would realize a positive shift and an integrated package of plans for addressing the issues of the national economy.
The Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Ibrahim Sobahi, on his part, indicated that the committee approved 12 scientific papers out of the papers presented to it that would be presented before the conference, saying that ample time would be availed for discussing these papers to come out with recommendations to be presented to the various institutions of the state.
Director of Development Studies and Research Institute (DSRI) of the University of Khartoum Dr. Hashim Al Obeid, on his part, explained that the university maintains openness towards the society and initiates studying its issues to present solutions to them, saying that this conference comes in continuation of the series of Arkaweet conferences which had tackled current Sudan issues
