Sudan Celebrates International Day of the Girl Child

Khartoum-The Ministry of Education and the National Council for Child Welfare, in collaboration with the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, Plan International and Journalists for Children, celebrated yesterday the international day of the girl child under the patronage of the State Minister at the Ministry of Social Security and Development, Mona Farouk under the slogan girls holding leadership positions.
 Secretary General of the National Council for Child Welfare NCC, Suaad Abdulaal said that the Council works to provide access to quality early childhood and development and to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls and ensure quality education.
 Suaad said yesterday during the Media Forum on the occasion of the international day of the girl child that Sudan has executed all laws and legislations concerning children issues.
Plan International Country Director Munir Gaafar renewed commitment to strategic partnership with government and childhood partners to advocate for all child-related issues.
The President of the Sudanese Coalition for Education for All, Mubarak Yahia asserted the importance of providing protection and safety to all girls so as to enjoy their rights.
The International Day of the Girl Child is celebrated annually on 11th October.
The main aims of the day are to promote girl’s empowerment and fulfilment of their human rights while also highlighting the challenges that face girls all over the world.
