Khartoum - The United Nations High-Level Meeting on Tuberculosis will take place on 26 September 2018 in New York.  It is the first global, Head of State level, meeting on

tuberculosis (TB), so far nearly 50 Heads of State have committed to attending the meeting.

The High-Level Meeting will result in a Political Declaration, agreed by all countries, which will establish a new global framework for tackling TB including global targets that all countries must work together to meet. Among these is a target to successfully diagnose and treat 40 million people worldwide for TB by 2022. This target will only be agreed if each country delivers its fair share of the target.

The High-Level Meeting is an unprecedented moment in the fight against TB, but it is only the start of a process. In an era when the United Nations is treated with increasing scepticism, the High-Level Meeting will provide a clear test of whether member states around the world are prepared to not only make commitments, but also to deliver on them
