Kigali Summit to Witness Signing of AfCFTA Agreement

Khartoum - Chairman of Union of Sudanese Chambers of Commerce Engineer Yousuf Ahmed Yousuf has said the African summit, which would be held in Kigali in the coming

period, would witness signing of Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
Sudan has effectively participated in the negotiations on the final draft of the agreement that lasted for many years.
Engineer Yousuf said in a statement to Sudan Vision yesterday that the AfCFTA would greatly help in trade exchange between the African countries as it would also help in openness towards other countries of the world, commending the efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Trade for moving and promoting the national economy and its keenness on external trade openness through scientific visions and on involving the private sector in all activities of the ministry and giving consideration to its vision on all its measures and regulations organizing trade through participation in the various committees of the ministry.
He reviewed the positive economic effects on the county and the national private sector from boosting the relations of economic and commercial cooperation with African countries.
He also praised the efforts of Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail, the official of the African Committee of AfCFTA for boosting the economic role of Sudan at the local, regional and international levels.
Engineer Yousuf said exports to neighboring countries have relatively increased after opening the border crossings, disclosing establishment of a free trade zone in White Nile State, Kosti town.
