Khartoum – President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir returned to Khartoum from Addis Ababa after participating in Ethiopia People’s Day
celebrations and the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the state’s constitution today.
Al Bashir was accompanied by the Minister of the Presidency, Fadil Abdullah Fadil; Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour; the Director General of National Intelligence and Security Services, Mohammed Atta Al-Moula; and State Minister Hatim Hassan Bakhit.
He was received in Khartoum airport by First Vice President, 1st Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Saleh and number of the Ministers.
Foreign Minister, Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour said in press statements in Khartoum airport that the President has addressed the celebrations affirming that the Sudanese/Ethiopian cooperation will reflect positively on people of the two nations.
Al Bashir expressed appreciation to Ethiopia for its support to the national dialogue process in Sudan which was participated by all Sudanese components to come out with a comprehensive document agreed on by all political and social forces.
H added that the Sudanese government will continue it efforts to achieve comprehensive peace.
Al Bashir pointed out that lifting of the US sanction will have its positive impact in pushing forward the relations between the two countries in all tracks.
Relations between Sudan and Ethiopia have thawed recently, with a growing rapprochement, especially in respect of the latter’s Grand Renaissance Dam. The two countries agreed in August to coordinate their political, security and economic issues.
