AFED Says US$ 31Million Required to Set Plans and Studies

Khartoum-The representative of Arab Fund for Economic Development AFED Mohamed Farhat has acknowledged

that many challenges face Sudan Arab Food Security Initiative SAFS.
This came while he was addressing the opening session of SAFS workshop on Saturday at Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum the capital city of Sudan.
Farhat has figured out that lack of agricultural information and statistic data considered as the main challenge “the lack of details like the required projects, water statistic and studies” may hinder the process toward the implementation of the initiative.
The representative of AFED appealed the authorities to establish an economic corporation concerns with development and promotion of SAFS initiative, he also urged the government to avail chance for the private sector to contribute in realizing the objectives of the initiative.
“the investors must create a conducive economic atmosphere” added Farhat, in the context he announced that at least  US$ 31 million required to complete the studies and to set a proper plan to address the short, medium and long term issues.
The state Minister of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy Magdi Yassen expressed the readiness of the government to facilitate the mission of the SAFS initiative revealing 24 agricultural projects have been prepared.
The State Minister hailed lifting US economic sanction saying “it enables Sudan to integrate into international economy”.
