Khartoum - The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has stressed that it always workers within the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) in the mediation between the government of Sudan and the SPLM-N.
The authority pointed out in a press statement that, ambassador Lissane Yohannes , Special Envoy of IGAD met the Assistant of the President of the Republic and government chief mediator, Ibrahim Mahmud on January 11, 2018 as assigned by the AUHIP Chief of Staff, to discuss the upcoming negotiations between Government of the Sudan and the SPLMN.
"It is not at all new for the Special Envoy to meet the Chief negotiator of the Government of the Sudan on mediation related issues in his capacity as a member of the mediation unit led by H.E. President Thabo Mbeki, Chairman of the AUHIP." Ambassador Yohannes told Sudan News agency on Tuesday.
He underlined that the IGAD Special Envoy has been with the mediation unit of the AUHIP for the past 8 years and works under the auspices of the AUHIP.
